Chicago - June 16, 2006 – Gay Radio in Chicago is here! Clear Channel Radio Chicago announced today that WKSC-FM’s (103.5) HD2 Side Channel would be the new home of Pride Radio. This move will not affect the current programming on Chicago’s Hit Music station, 103.5 KISSFM.
Pride Radio is music, entertainment and spoken word content especially for the Gay population. Coined as America’s Gay Channel, Pride Radio is guaranteed to satisfy your musical orientation, bringing a whole new feeling of pride. In addition to being broadcast in HD2, Pride Radio will be available on line at www.kisschicago.com.
“Chicagoland is home to one of America's largest gay populations, and our new Pride Radio channel is designed to be a voice and a source of entertainment for the gay community,” said Darren Davis, Clear Channel Regional Vice President of Programming. “The music will be mostly upbeat, dance-oriented, and energetic. It's an idea that's so fabulous; we just had to do it in High Definition on HD Radio.”
Clear Channel Radio Chicago began broadcasting HD digital-radio multicasts channels earlier this year on five radio stations (WKSC-FM, WGCI-FM, WLIT-FM, WNUA-FM and WVAZ-FM).
All of the HD2 channels are commercial-free and there has never been a subscription fee necessary to listen to HD digital radio! HD digital radio is an amazing advance in both the quality and quantity of radio signals. HD2 multicast allow stations the opportunity to provide niche formats like Pride Radio for communities that may currently be underserved.
Listeners who have an HD radio receiver can hear Clear Channel Radio Chicago FM stations in crystal-clear HD digital sound. Each station also has an "HD2" channel with totally unique programming.
