Clear Channel Radio Philadelphia Begins Broadcasting Five New HD Channels in Amazing HD Digital Sound!
All New Commercial Free Channels & There’s Never a Fee!

Philadelphia, PA, January 24, 2006 – Crystal clear digital sound, new music formats commercial free and there’s never a fee. Clear Channel Radio Philadelphia begins broadcasting HD digital radio channels in five exciting new HD2 digital-radio multicasts starting Tuesday January 24, 2006. Local stations offering the new channels are WDAS FM, Q102 FM, Smooth Jazz 106.1 WJJZ FM, Sunny 104.5, and Power 99 FM. The stations can be heard on digital radio receivers and online. The new stations are:
WDAS-FM (105.3 FM) Urban AC HD2 WDAS FM – “Quiet Storm” - R&B Love Songs Q102-FM (102.1 FM) Mainstream CHR HD2 Q102 FM – Hurban - Latin Pop and Hip-Hop, and dance music Smooth Jazz WJJZ 106.1-FM Smooth Jazz or 25+Alternative HD2 WJJZ FM - AAA / Adult Alternative Sunny 104.5-FM Gold AC HD2 SUNNY 104.5 – “The Sunlight Lounge - Soft AC / Standards Power 99-FM (98.9 FM) Hip Hop & R&B HHD2 Power 99 - Xtreme Hip Hop – all hip-hop all the time
The rollout of Clear Channel HD digital radio is all about staying ahead of constantly evolving technology and habits of listeners. Brian Check, Regional Vice President of Programming and Program Director of Sunny 104.5 FM says – “HD digital radio is an amazing advance in both the quality and quantity of radio signals. We’ll be giving listeners new choices, ways to access our stations, and CD quality. And it’s all – free.”
Starting next Tuesday listeners will have access to new formats – many of which have never been heard in the Philadelphia area. Todd Shannon, Clear Channel Radio Philadelphia Operations Manager says one of the new HD formats will reach out to Philadelphia’s significant Latino population. Shannon says, “I can’t tell you how excited we are to better serve our Hispanic listeners with the “Hurban” format broadcasting on HD2 Q102. It’s relatively new combining Latin Pop and Hip-Hop, and dance music, presented in a mixture of English and Spanish.” Shannon says, “ HD2 Smooth Jazz WJJZ 106.1 will offer ‘Adult Alternative’ which is an eclectic mix of music blending classic alternative, reggae, new modern music, blues and more.
